Overview

Cape Otway Lighthouse is the oldest and most important one on mainland Australia. Built in 1848, it sits atop cliffs overlooking the infamous ‘Shipwreck Coast’, where the Southern Ocean collides with Bass Strait to form one of the most dangerous stretches of coastline in the world. One that has claimed hundreds of ships and far more lives. The lighthouse became known to passengers and ships’ crews as ‘the beacon of hope’. We too need a beacon, as we navigate the storms of life.
