The Roman Emperor Constantine was one of the great, charismatic figures of the ancient world. No Roman emperor has had a greater impact on the modern world than Constantine. He’s influenced the way we think, the way we live, and what we believe.
And this is particularly true in the area of religion. Constantine was directly responsible for the conversion of the Roman Empire to Christianity. And he put his personal mark on Christianity.
He radically changed the Church and its beliefs so that what was practiced became considerably different to what was practiced by Jesus and the Apostles. Aside from Christ and the Bible writers, no one man has exerted more influence on the Christian Church than Constantine.
In fact, his influence remains with us to this day, and it’s deeply embedded in the structure and function of much of Christianity – even down to the weekly day of worship, and the celebration of the most holy days in the Christian calendar – Easter and Christmas.
But the big question is this: Was he right – and does it matter? Well, there’s only one way to find out. Check it out in the Bible – God’s word. That’s our ultimate authority in religious matters. And you might be surprised at what you discover.
