Every year millions of farmers around the world plant seeds on their farms. The seeds germinate, sprout and then push their way through the earth to emerge into the sun light.

Life requires growth. When living things stop developing and producing they begin to die. A healthy young seedling must grow into a plant that then produces fruit in order for it to remain healthy.

Our spiritual lives are much the same. If we ever reach a point where we stop growing then we begin to die spiritually. Spiritual growth is a vital component of the Christian life. Once we have accepted Jesus as our Saviour we need to continue to grow in our walk with Him.

Let’s take a look at some simple and practical tips that can help us nurture our spiritual lives so that they can become vibrant and healthy. Here are 10 Bible Facts about Growing as a Christian.

Fact number 1. Growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus is a vital part of Christian living.
The Bible says: “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen” 2 Peter 3:18.

Fact number 2. Jesus nurtured his spiritual life through regular prayer.
The Bible says: “Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place: and there He prayed.” Mark 1:35.

Fact number 3. The heart of Jesus’ prayer life was to seek God’s will.
The Bible says: “He went a little farther and fell on His face … saying, ‘Oh My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.’” Matthew 26:39.

Fact number 4. Reading the Bible helps us to grow spiritually.
The Bible says: “Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.” 1 Peter 1:23.

Fact number 5. We must read the Bible with an attitude of faith for it to benefit us.
The Bible says: “But the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.” Hebrews 4:2.

Fact number 6. Sharing our faith, or witnessing, will help us to overcome Satan.
The Bible says: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Revelation 12:11

Fact number 7. We must learn to abide in Jesus in order to produce spiritual fruit.
The Bible says: “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)

Fact number 8. We must delight to do God’s will if we are to grow spiritually.
The Bible says: I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.” (Psalms 40:8)

Fact number 9. Obey God’s commandments and live by His principles.
The Bible says: He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who love Me will be loved by My Father and I will love him and manifest Myself to him. (John 14:210

And finally, Fact number 10. Attend Church regularly and enjoy Christian fellowship.
The Bible says: And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. (Hebrews 10:25)
