FRIDAY 25 OCTOBER

ARRIVE JERUSALEM

Arrive in Israel in the morning. Drive to Jerusalem and transfer to hotel.
12:00pm Walk along the Rampart Walls of the Old City of Jerusalem to Zion Gate. Visit Jerusalem Forum, the Cardo, then to Mt. Zion and the Upper Room of the Last Supper and on to St. Peter in Gallicantu where Peter denied Jesus.
At the Western Wall we open Sabbath with the Orthodox Jews

SATURDAY 26 OCTOBER

JERUSALEM

Start with a devotional at the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of the Old City and Temple Mount and walk to Dominus Flevit where Jesus wept, and on to the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. Then we walk to St. Stephens Gate/Lions Gate and visit the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus healed the Paralytic for a devotional on the miracles of Jesus.  Then we follow the footsteps of Jesus in Passion Week. We walk the Via Dolorosa – the Way of the Cross. We visit the Ecce Homo Arch, the Pavement, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Garden Tomb.
In the evening, optional visit to the Old City bazaar.

SUNDAY 27 OCTOBER

JERUSALEM TO BETHLEHEM

Walk through Hezekiah’s tunnel to the Pool of Siloam and then visit the City of David, and the Southern Wall/Ophel Excavation. Continue on to Temple Mount and the Dome of the Rock.
In the afternoon, enjoy an excursion to Bethlehem via the Shepherd Field and Rachel’s Tomb.
At Bethlehem, visit Manger Square and the Church of the Nativity.
Stop at the Herodium to visit Herod’s Tomb before returning to Jerusalem for dinner.
In the evening, walk through the Western Wall Tunnel to see the huge foundation stones of the ancient Temple.

DAy 4 qumran

Day 4

MONDAY 28 OCTOBER

JERUSALEM TO THE DEAD SEA

Visit the Israel Museum and the Shrine of the Book to see the Dead Sea Scrolls. On the way to Qumran, stop in Bethany to see the Tomb of Lazarus and pass the Inn of the Good Samaritan. 
Visit Qumran to see the caves where the scrolls were discovered.
Stop at En Gedi where David hid from Saul. Optional walk to the waterfall.
We check into our Dead Sea Hotel and enjoy a relaxing float in the Dead Sea.

TUESDAY 29 OCTOBER

DEAD SEA/MASADA

Today we explore Herod’s desert fortress of Masada and then return to our hotel at the Dead Sea for a free afternoon.

WEDNESDAY 30 OCTOBER

JERUSALEM TO THE DEAD SEA

Travel via the Jordan Valley to Galilee. Walk Wadi Qelt from St George Church to New Testament Jericho.
Visit the baptismal site of John the Baptist (Qasr el Wahud). 
Stop at Nablus to visit Jacob’s Well then continue to Megiddo, the site of Biblical Armageddon. 
On Mt Carmel (Muhraka, the traditional site of Elijah’s confrontation with the prophets of Baal).
We visit the ancient city of Sephorus to see the magnificent mosaics, then on to Tiberius, on the shores of Galilee.

Day 7 Magdala

THURSDAY 31 OCTOBER

GALILEE

Enjoy a full day following Christ’s footsteps around the Sea of Galilee.
First, we visit Mt Arbel Lookout for a panoramic view of the Sea of Galilee, then to Magdala, the home of Mary Magdalene. We then visit the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount, and walk down to Tabgha, where Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes and on to Capernaum, known as Jesus’ town. We cross the Jordan River to reach Bethsaida, the home of Peter, Andrew, James and John, before we go to Kibbutz Ginosar to see the “Jesus Boat” and experience a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee.

Day 8 Kurzi

Day 8

FRIDAY 1 NOVEMBER

GALILEE

On our way north to upper Galilee we visit Kurzi, where Jesus healed two demon possessed men and the demons joined a herd of pigs who rushed over the cliffs into the Sea of Galilee. We also see Tel Hadar, where Jesus fed 4000 people. Next we visit Solomon’s ancient city of Hazor, then to Dan, where the famous David Stele was discovered and on to Caesarea Philippi, where Peter identified Jesus as the Messiah. Then we drive up into the Golan Heights on the border with Syria. Then return to the Ofir Observation Point for a magnificent view across the Sea of Galilee.

Day 9

SATURDAY 2 NOVEMBER

GALILEE

Morning devotional before we visit magnificent Caesarea on the Mediterranean Coast, Pontius Pilate’s amphitheatre and the Roman ruins. This afternoon we visit important places associated with Jesus. We travel to Nazareth, the city of Jesus’ childhood. Then to Cana where Jesus performed the first miracle turning water into wine. Then onto Mt Tabor, the scene of Jesus’ transfiguration, and on to Nain where Jesus raised the widow’s son from the dead.

DAy 10 Pella Jordan

SUNDAY 3 NOVEMBER

GALILEE/AMMAN

This morning is an early start as we leave Israel. We travel down the Jordan Valley and then cross the Jordan River into the Kingdom of Jordan. We visit the ancient city of Pella, where Christians fled in AD 70 when Jerusalem was destroyed. Then make a stop at Zarqua (Jabbok) River, before continuing on to the well-preserved Roman city of Jerash, one of the cities of the Decapolis. We travel to Amman to our hotel.

MONDAY 4 NOVEMBER

AMMAN/PETRA

We travel to Mt Nebo where Moses viewed the promised land. Then to Madaba, to view the oldest maps of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. We visit Machaerus where John the Baptist was imprisoned, pass Diban where the famous Moabite Stone was discovered, before a visit to the Crusader Castle, Kerak. Finally we arrive at the rose red city of Petra.

TUESDAY 5 NOVEMBER

PETRA

We enjoy a full day of sightseeing in this magnificent stone-carved city. We enter through the narrow siq between towering cliffs to view Al Khazna – the Treasury. We climb to the sacred high place and on to Ed Dier – the monastery.

DAy 13 Wadi rum

WEDNESDAY 6 NOVEMBER

PETRA/WADI RUM

Travel to Wadi Rum for a true nomadic Bedouin experience in a protected desert wilderness in southern Jordan. It features dramatic sandstone mountains like the many-domed Jebel Um and then Isharin, and natural arches such as Burdah Rock Bridge. On arrival, embark on a 1.5 hour Bedouin Jeep tour. There’s free time afterwards to try an optional camel ride (not included in price). Dinner tonight is at our authentic accommodation under the stars.

WADI RUM/MT SINAI

Depart Wadi Rum and travel to Aqaba on the Red Sea and cross to Nuweiba, Egypt. Then we continue through the spectacular Sinai Desert to St Catherine’s Monastery.

FRIDAY 8 NOVEMBER

MT SINAI/CAIRO

One of the highlights of the trip is the climb to Mt Sinai. Those who wish to join the climbing party are called at 2am for the three-hour ascent to the summit of Mt Sinai to watch the sunrise over the desert. Then we descend for breakfast and a visit to the ancient monastery of St Catherine, before continuing our journey to Cairo via the Suez Canal. The ancient monastery of St Catherine is located at the foot of Mt Sinai, the traditional site where Moses received the Ten Commandments. (St Catherine’s Monastery is open Fridays 10:45-11:30am). Drive through the desert past the Suez Canal to Cairo.

CAIRO

Morning devotional on Egypt and the Bible.
We leave the tourist trail and visit rural Egypt through the desert to the oasis of Fayoum, the ancient Meidum and on to Dashur to see the first true pyramids ever built.
OPTIONAL:  Evening visit to the Cairo bazaar, Khan el Khalili.

SUNDAY 10 NOVEMBER

CAIRO/ASWAN

Then we visit some of the most famous sites in the ancient world – the three great pyramids at Giza and their guardian Sphinx. We will plan to visit inside one of the pyramids. Nearby lies Memphis, famous capital of ancient Egypt and site of an amazing Bible prophecy. See the colossal statue of Rameses II and the great Alabaster Sphinx. Continue to Sakkara to see the Step Pyramid of King Zoser, the oldest in the world. We will also see the Tomb of Ti and the Serapeum.
Late afternoon visit to the Cairo Museum.
 
Evening flight to Aswan:  LEAVE CAIRO AT 10.15 PM/ARRIVE ASWAN 11.40 PM (Egyptair flight MS 90)

Optional excursion to Abu Simbel today (not included in costing).
At noon join your Nile River cruise ship. This afternoon, your sightseeing in Aswan includes a visit to the High Dam, Unfinished Obelisk (Granite Quarries) and Philae Temple.
During the night we sail for Kom Ombo where we visit the double temples of Sobek and Horus the Elder. Then a leisurely sail to Edfu.
